About Us

Blue Star's History

Blue Star began 15 years ago in founder John R. Keeler’s kitchen. Since then, it has certainly grown up.

Just four years after its conception, Blue Star was named one of the 500 Largest Hispanic Privately Owned Companies in the USA by Hispanic Business Magazine, and have received this honor ever year since. In 2003, Blue Star patented our Eco-Fresh crab meat pouches in Asia and Europe, becoming the first company to package their crab meat in this revolutionary and eco-friendly way.

Blue Star currently employs thousands and produces an average of over seven million pounds of crab meat. Throughout our history, Blue Star has maintained a steadfast passion and loyalty to our customers, to our community, to our environment and to quality.
